Gas Safe Heating Engineers in Surrey

WTS Plumbing & Heating Ltd is a family run heating company working from Jayes Park Courtyard in Ockley, about seven miles south of Dorking on the A29. William Smith set the business up in 2008 and it has looked after boilers and central heating in Surrey homes since then. Our heating engineers are Gas Safe registered, and we work on oil and LPG heating as well as mains gas. Most of our domestic heating work is in Dorking (RH4 and RH5), Reigate (RH2), Leatherhead (KT22), Ashtead (KT21), Epsom (KT17, KT18 and KT19), Banstead (SM7), Cheam (SM2 and SM3) and Cranleigh (GU6), for private households and for landlords who need a landlord gas safety record (often still called a CP12) each year. We also take heating work in Wimbledon, Putney, Fulham and Central London on request, subject to engineer availability. Alongside gas boilers we fit air source heat pumps as an MCS certified installer, and every repair and installation comes with a 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship.

Boiler Repairs

A boiler repair is a visit from a Gas Safe registered engineer to find the fault that has stopped your boiler and put it right, using the manufacturer's part where one is needed. The calls we get most are no hot water, no heating, a boiler that keeps losing pressure, a fault code on the display, a leak under the casing, and banging or kettling noises from the heat exchanger. We fit manufacturer parts for Worcester Bosch and other major makes, and where a part has to be ordered we tell you the price before it is fitted. Breakdowns do not keep office hours, so WTS runs a 24/7 emergency line for Surrey, covering Dorking, Reigate, Leatherhead, Ashtead, Epsom, Banstead, Cheam and Cranleigh. If an older boiler is no longer worth repairing we say so, and give you a written quote for a replacement rather than fitting parts that will not last.

Boiler Installation

A boiler installation is the removal of your old boiler and the fitting of a new one, sized for the property, connected, commissioned and registered so the manufacturer's guarantee is valid. It starts with a survey. We look at the number of bathrooms, the hot water demand, the radiators, the flue route and the gas supply, then quote in writing for a combi, system or regular boiler that suits the house rather than the one that is easiest to fit. WTS installs Worcester Bosch boilers and other major makes, and we advise on the right output rather than simply matching the old one. On the day the engineer cleans the system and adds inhibitor, fits a magnetic filter where the system needs one, commissions the boiler and shows you how the controls work. The installation is notified through the Gas Safe Register, which is how your Building Regulations compliance certificate is issued, and our own 12-month warranty sits alongside the manufacturer's guarantee.

Boiler Servicing

A boiler service is an annual check by a Gas Safe registered engineer that the boiler is burning safely and running as the manufacturer intended. Ours covers a visual check of the boiler, flue and pipework, a flue gas analysis to measure combustion, the gas rate and working pressure, the condensate trap, the expansion vessel and pressure relief valve, the seals, and cleaning of any components that need it. You get a written record of the readings. Most manufacturers, Worcester Bosch included, make an annual service a condition of their guarantee, so a missed year can cost you the warranty as well as the efficiency. For landlords we combine the service with the gas safety record in one visit, which keeps the yearly cost down on rented homes in Epsom, Reigate and Dorking. Book in late summer or early autumn if you can, before the first cold week fills the diary.

  • Heating system design for extensions and whole-house refits
  • Planned heating maintenance for landlords and managing agents
  • Air source heat pump installation and servicing
  • Advice on cutting heating bills without replacing the boiler

Central Heating Repairs

Central heating repair covers everything downstream of the boiler: radiators, pipework, pump, motorised valves, cylinder, thermostats and programmer. Radiators that are cold at the bottom but warm at the top usually mean sludge, which a power flush and a magnetic filter clear; radiators cold at the top need bleeding or a look at the automatic air vent; a system that drops pressure every few days has a leak or a failing expansion vessel, and we trace it rather than just topping it up. We replace seized pump heads, sticking zone valves and worn thermostatic radiator valves, and we set up the controls so rooms heat when they are used. Houses that have been extended over the years often have radiators added on to pipework that was never sized for them, so after a repair we balance the whole system rather than one radiator at a time.

How We Work

Step one: the first call

Tell us the make of the boiler, what it is doing and your postcode. For a no-heat call in one of our Surrey towns we tell you when an engineer can be with you before you commit to anything.

Step two: survey and quote

For an installation or a larger repair we visit, measure the house and quote in writing, and if anything changes once work starts we tell you before doing it.

Step three: the work

A Gas Safe registered engineer does the work, keeps the water and heating off for as short a time as possible and leaves the boiler cupboard as it was found. Ask us for our Gas Safe registration number and check it on the Gas Safe Register before work starts.

Step four: handover

We commission the boiler, record the readings, register the manufacturer's guarantee and show you the controls. Landlords get the installation paperwork and any gas safety record by email for their files.

Step five: after the job

Every repair and installation carries our 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship. If anything is not right, call the Ockley office on 01306 621 057 and the same team comes back to sort it.

Contact WTS Plumbing & Heating Ltd for boiler repairs, servicing and installation from our Ockley office, covering Dorking, Reigate, Leatherhead, Ashtead, Epsom, Banstead, Cheam and Cranleigh, with south west London and Central London on request.

Questions we are asked about heating

Yes. WTS runs a 24/7 emergency line for boiler breakdowns in Dorking, Reigate, Leatherhead, Ashtead, Epsom, Banstead, Cheam and Cranleigh. Call 01306 621 057 with the make of the boiler and what it is doing. Emergency cover in Wimbledon, Putney, Fulham and Central London is on request and depends on which engineers are free that day.

Once a year. An annual service keeps the boiler burning safely, keeps its efficiency up and is a condition of most manufacturers' guarantees, including Worcester Bosch. Our service includes a flue gas analysis, gas rate and pressure checks, a look at the condensate trap, expansion vessel and seals, and a written record of the readings. Landlords can have the gas safety record done on the same visit.

WTS installs Worcester Bosch boilers and other major makes, as combi, system or regular boilers depending on the house. We size the boiler from a survey of the bathrooms, hot water demand, radiators and flue route rather than copying the old one. Every installation is notified so your Building Regulations compliance certificate is issued, the manufacturer's guarantee is registered for you, and our own 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship applies.

Repairs are priced from the fault found on site, and if a part has to be ordered we tell you the cost before it is fitted. Installations and larger heating jobs are quoted in writing after a survey, and anything extra is raised with you before it is done. We do not list figures online because every house and boiler is different; call the Ockley office for a quote.

Yes. We carry out the annual gas safety check on rented homes and issue the landlord gas safety record (often still called a CP12), which covers every gas appliance, the pipework and the flues. Most landlords combine it with the boiler service to save a second visit. We do these for private landlords and letting agents in Epsom, Reigate, Dorking and Leatherhead, and email the record for your files.

Yes. WTS Plumbing & Heating Ltd is Gas Safe registered, and every engineer who works on a gas boiler or gas pipework for us is on the register. Ask us for our Gas Safe registration number and check it on the Gas Safe Register before work starts; the engineer also carries an ID card which you can ask to see at the door.
