Where WTS Started
WTS Plumbing & Heating Ltd was founded in 2008 by William Smith and is still family run. The company works from Unit 2, Jayes Park Courtyard, Ockley, Dorking, Surrey RH5 5RR, about seven miles south of Dorking on the A29. It began as a plumbing and heating firm and has grown into a mechanical and public health contractor that main contractors bring onto commercial projects in Surrey and London. We also have a base in Fulham.
Who We Work For
Since 2008 WTS has worked for private households, landlords, construction companies and tier-one contractors. On the commercial side that means design and modelling, mechanical services, public health services, commissioning, validations and reporting, sustainability work and infrastructure upgrades, much of it delivered as the mechanical package for a main contractor or end user. Projects WTS has delivered include Moonbug at Camden Lock, Kew Gardens, Cabot Square, Cannon Street, Voysey House and Moor House Level 9. Commercial work takes WTS to sites in Surrey and in London. The domestic side is centred on the Surrey towns nearest the office: Dorking (RH4 and RH5), Reigate (RH2), Leatherhead (KT22), Ashtead (KT21), Epsom (KT17, KT18 and KT19), Banstead (SM7), Cheam (SM2 and SM3) and Cranleigh (GU6), with Wimbledon (SW19), Putney (SW15), Fulham (SW6) and Central London covered on request.
What We Do
WTS covers both commercial and domestic work from the Ockley office. A main contractor gets a mechanical and public health package with the paperwork to match; a homeowner or landlord gets a plumber or heating engineer who turns up when booked. The work falls into these areas:
- Commercial mechanical services: heating, ventilation, pipework and plant for offices and other commercial buildings, on new fit-outs and refurbishments
- Public health services: hot and cold water, hot water generation and drainage systems on commercial projects
- Design and modelling, commissioning, validations and reporting, sustainability work and infrastructure upgrades for main contractors
- Plumbing repairs, installations and maintenance for homes and landlords, with a 24/7 emergency plumber
- Boiler repair, boiler installation and boiler servicing by Gas Safe registered heating engineers, including Worcester Bosch boilers
- Landlord gas safety records (often still called a CP12) for landlords and businesses
- Drainage: unblocking, repairs and drain surveys
- Air source heat pumps, air conditioning and electrical work
- Large-scale mechanical installations
Part of the Local Community
WTS is a family business and it puts something back into the area around Ockley and Dorking. The company takes on apprentices, offers work experience placements to people thinking about a trade, and sponsors grassroots football teams. Apprentices learn alongside experienced engineers on real jobs, from a domestic boiler swap in Dorking to plant work on a commercial site in London, which is how the trade passes on its skills. The football sponsorship is a small thing, but it keeps the WTS name in front of local families in the villages the company has served since 2008.
The Team
The WTS team is made up of plumbers, heating engineers, electricians and project managers. The company holds the accreditations shown on its homepage: Gas Safe Register, OFTEC, NICEIC Approved Contractor, MCS, F-Gas and SafeContractor Approved. Ask us for our Gas Safe registration number and check it on the Gas Safe Register before work starts. WTS works on oil and LPG heating as well as mains gas. WTS stands behind its work with a 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship.
